HELPING HONG KONG
UNDER SIEGE FOR DEMOCRACY
Hong Kong is currently under siege by police and Chinese troops with students caught in the cross fire. Clashes between police, told to squash the demonstrations at seemingly any cost, and protesters are growing increasingly violent with live munitions being used on crowds and petrol bombs being thrown in retaliatory attacks.
The protests started in June of 2019 against a bill being passed to allow extradition to mainland China. The bill was withdrawn in September but protests continue in pursuit of a full democratic system for Hong Kong's citizens.

It's scary how quickly your freedoms can be taken away by the people you put in charge of protecting them. I thank each and every one of you supporting those of us in Hong Kong.

Honestly it's amazing what the world is capable of when we pull together. Hearing that the U.S. has our backs and that the whole world is watching reassures me that it's worth it in the end.

The fabric of democracy is always fragile everywhere because it depends on the will of citizens to protect it, and when they become scared, when it becomes dangerous for them to defend it, it can go very quickly.
